Getting Started
The first thing you must do is create a character profile. There are many things to take into consideration when creating your character. Here is a list of the categories:
Name
Often the name reflects some aspect of the character, be it their personality, their alt mode, or even what their job or skill is.
Affiliation (Autobot, Decepticon)
Autobots: They tend to be more compassionate and forthright. Traits such as nobility, bravery, selflessness, and honesty are held in high esteem.
Decepticons: They are the polar opposite of the Autobots, naturally. Lying, stealing, cheating, and selfishness are just some of the traits of a Decepticon.
Of course, there are variations in each group. Just because a character is an Autobot doesn’t mean that he has to be a complete goody-two-shoe. Likewise, a Decepticon doesn’t always have to be completely ruthless and heartless. There are many shades between black and white, good and evil.
You must chose one faction or the other. There are no mercenaries/neutrals allowed.
Feelings about Allegiance
How does your character feel about their faction? Are they happy where they are or do they question it? Do they fully understand the goals and ideals of their faction?
Alternate Mode(s)
There are many alternate modes to choose from. Cars, trucks (lorries for the Brits, ), motorcycles, jets, etc are all available. When creating a character for a particular side, keep in mind what is already being played. A variety within a group is nice and also is tactically wise.
Skills and Abilities
Does your character have any special skills or training in areas such as medic, engineer, or weapons specialist? Do they have any special abilities such as invisibility, teleportation, or telepathy? How can they use their talents within the group? What jobs or tasks would they be suited to?
Weaponry
What kind of weaponry does the character have? What does it do? If more than one weapon, what do they prefer to use and why?
Looks (Robot Mode and Alt Mode)
A description of facial features, any special markings, colours, height, even optic colour, helps to paint a more complete picture of your character taking them from a sparkling of an idea to a full fledged and “fleshed out” being.
Personality
How does your character act? What personality traits do they have? Are they friendly and outgoing or are they distant and aloof?
When making up your character, be as detailed as you can. It helps both you and the other role players to interact with them by making them more realistic. You are also welcome to include images of alt modes and if you are fortunate enough to be artistically inclined you can add images of them in robot mode.
Canon Characters
Canon Characters are very welcome. However, we would kindly request that if you do decide to use a canon, please do some homework. A good place to start is the Transformers Wikia. It has a huge range of articles available. The more you know about a canon character, the better you can portray them. Obviously, every person perceives a character in different ways, which is fair enough, but there are some reactions that are to be expected from them. One would never dream of Megatron and Starscream becoming best friends, now, would they?
Just a final note, there are no invincible characters allowed. No immortal characters either, unless a canon character which has been shown to have that trait (Starscream, for example).
Once you have made your character profile, you must submit it for approval. Once approved you are welcome to join in the role-play!
Basic Role Play Rules
A lot of these are also covered in the other threads, but it never hurts to reiterate these very important points!
There is no character limit and you can play as many as you wish.
You are not limited to playing one faction only. You can play both Autobots and Decepticons.
It is possible to betray and switch sides, however this will only be allowed four times, so be sure of where you want to be!
Play fairly. In battles, you must allow other players to hit you. The amount of damage done is up to you but please try to be realistic. Getting hit by a nuclear bomb would most likely spell the end of a Transformer, not just end up being a “flesh wound”! However, this rule does not come into effect if you are battling against another of your own characters.
Try your best to remain in character when you post. It adds more to your character and the RP.
Try to avoid double posting. If you have more than one character that needs to respond, try to put it all in once post, using a line (-----) or something to that effect to divide each character response.
All out of character conversation (OOC) should be put in ((double parenthesis)). If at all possible, keep this to a minimum or use the chatbox.
If you know you are going to be away for a time, please try to either sideline your character(s) somehow or ask someone to take over for you. There is nothing more irritating than when your character gets painted into a corner by another character doing a disappearing act!
No God Modding (also known as Power Playing, Auto Hitting, etc.)! If you are not sure what this means, I have included a definition.
God Modding - When one plays a character that can never be destroyed, harmed, etc. The character, however, can hurt and/or kill the other characters without giving the other characters a chance. This is highly illegal in most, if not all, role-plays.
Example:
Sarah = Regular player
Bob = Godmodder
-Sarah aims her arrows at Bob and then releases-
-Arrows go through Bob and Bob jumps up and reaches into Sarah's chest and drags out her beating heart, squeezing the life out of it and killing her-
So, now you know. DON’T DO IT! You will get a warning for the first offence. If there is a second offence, you will be banned for a week. If it happens again after that, you will be banned permanently.
In Combat
Transformers are extremely difficult to kill. Many have been known to lose limbs and still function to near-perfection. As such, battles can and will be long and drawn-out processes, but this does not mean you cannot lose. Being a large machine, you cannot doubt you won't be hit and as a large machine, you'll have fairly heavy plating. Based on your size, it will determine how well you can manoeuvre and avoid attacks. Larger Transformers will have a better defence but less mobility than a smaller Transformer.
As far as weapons go, if you come equipped with a weapon in your Transformed state (such as missile launchers, helicopter blades, machine guns, etc) that's what you'll be using albeit using lasers instead of actual bullets and much more powerful explosives than normal mortar shells. If you do not have a weapon (because you're a motorcycle or a stereo system) then you have a handgun capable of shooting lasers just as powerful as the next gun. Based on your size, it will either pack more or less of a punch.
And last, but not least, HAVE FUN! It is just a game after all.
If you have any suggestions or questions feel free to ask any of the staff. That’s what we’re here for!
