Disclaimer: I don't own TF. Believe me, if I did everyone would be in serious trouble because the Decepticons would've taken over already.
Her violet streaked black hair trailed behind her as she ran at full tilt through a dark wooded area at the dead of night. He was after her. Her deranged father was going to kill her if he caught her. Skylark could do nothing but run away from this psychotic monster. She had enough of his drunken rage and the constant onslaught of beatings she received for absolutely no reason. 'My sisters are lucky they don't have to put up with this crap,' Skylark thought to herself.
Skylark and her twin sisters were separated at birth; she didn't even get the chance to learn their names. They only reason she knew they existed was the fact that her lunatic father had mentioned them a couple times. her black t-shirt was torn from running through a couple thorn bushes and both her pants and shirt were saturated with water from when she had to cross a river. Her feet were bare for the simply reason she didn't even bother with them before breaking through her bedroom window.
The teen was beginning to tire, running with the weight of damp clothing on her back plus the fact that she cold, wet and very hungry. She broke through the tree infested area into a large clearing. In the distance, there was a large power supply plant sitting in the entrance to a large canyon. She'd hide in there. Somehow she would hide inside of the plant.
Skylark snuck past the fence. Luckily for her the two guards had conveniently decided to take a cat nap at their posts. She flattened herself against the brick wall when reached the side of the building as two more guards walked out of the plant towards the security shack. As they were rudely waking up the two that were sleeping, Skylark managed to climb up the wall because of the way the blocks jutted out in places. When she got to the roof she was met by a pair of mechanical eyes that were the same fire red as heres but these ones were glaring in warning.
Lark stood to her feet slowly, still wary of the black metal panther, yes metal panther, still glaring at her. "What?" she hissed softly at it. Skylark was starting to annoyed with being stared at.
The panther seated itself on its haunches and continued to glare before turning its attention towards a nearby vent entrance covered by a thick metal grate. Skylark then understood that the mecha cat wanted to get inside and that's when she came up with a brilliant plan. Skylark walked up to the vent cover and started to twist the screws loose. The panther maowed at her questioningly. "I won't tell if you don't," Skylark replied, not really sure of the question but not exactly caring at the moment either. The feline seemed to understand and nodded in agreement. When she was done loosening the cover from the entrance, she deposited it on the roof careful not to make any sound. The panther leapt into the vent and headed off for whatever it was looking for. Lark climbed into the vent next on her hands and knees making sure to distribute her weight as she moved so she wouldn't make the vent shaft creak.
She came to a part in the vent where it was a dead end except for a ladder heading upwards. Taking a deep breath, she hoisted herself up onto the metal bars until she reached the top of the ladder. The vent branched off in either direction, but deciding to keep it simple she stuck with going forward. She was getting closer to another vent cover. This one was built into the floor of the vent shaft. When got close enough to it she could see the floor of the storage room where all the energy containment cells were kept.
Felling like she was being watched, Skylark looked up in the most immediate direction and yet again found herself staring into the optics of the mecha panther. Shrugging she continued to watch the floor as the workers scurried about. She was about to crawl past when there was an explosion followed the wall of the storage room imploding on the workers.
She saw a huge squarish looking silver robot, followed by a blue and white one that looked like he had a tape deck for a chest and then there three of them the walked in behind him side by side in perfect synch with the other, they kind of reminded her of jets with their wings. The one on the left was dark blue with blue red trim; the one in the middle was blood red and white while the one on the right was jet black with raging violet trim. Then there were a bunch of other ones after them.
The silver one whom they referred to as Megatron, started barking orders to the others, "Soundwave! Skywarp! I want you two to start converting the energy into cubes. I want Starscream and Thundercracker to patrol outside and the rest you I need to store the cubes in you subspace. We must collect all of it and failure will not be tolerated," he waved his arm cannon as he spoke the last part.
Skylark looked on as the tape deck, Soundwave and the black jet, Skywarp started pulling square like containers out of their chests. Everytime they would set one next to the energy cells the contents of the cell would strike the cubes like lightning and then seem to tame once inside. "Cool..." she whispered to herself.
Just as she was about to lie on her stomach to watch more comfortably, the vent shook as a large laser blast struck the plant floor right by the leader's feet. The person doing the shooting was not close enough to them to be visible from the vent. Suddenly the metal underneath them groaned and collasped to the concrete floor below. The panther landed gracefully beside Soundwave while Skylark landed hard on her left shoulder, dislocating it. She laid their curled up on the floor not even bothering to look up anymore.
The clatter had of course drawn everyone's attention to her who happened to be in the dead center of the room. "Great," she muttered hoarsely, "Just my luck, I would get caught up in the middle of some galactic feud from who knows where and how long ago."
Being completely surrounded was disturbing in itself but being surrounded by large alien robots about to haul off on each other was down right scary. Skylark rolled slowly onto her back and sat up finally looking around her to assess her situation. Her fire-red eyes gazed out through the large hole in the wall into the clear night sky. There she spotted what she was hoping to never see for the rest of her miserable existance. Her father was glaring at her with a blazing fury.
"No..." she gasped in surprise. She got to her feet as quickly as possible ignoring the stares from the alien robots this of course was impossible to do with out putting stress on her dislocated arm. She hissed in pain and tried to move away from the center of the ring while keeping her eyes on the man of her nightmares.
Before she could get very far Megatron had decided she would make for a great hostage, "Where do you think you're going fleshling?" He snatched her up in his hand.
"Let her go!" yelled a red and blue mech who was referred to as Optimus, "Only cowards use people smaller than them as shields."
Skylark looked up at Megatron and answered, "Away from him." She pointed at the space in the wall where the 'psychotic beast' stood watching her but he had something in his hands aimed directly at her chest.
Confused, the leader looked in the direction she had pointed to see an older human, male by the looks of him with a long barreled rifle trained on the adolescent female. "Hah! You should be more afraid of me than of that worthless, meatbag."
Skylark would have laughed if the situation wasn't so serious, "You can kill him if you want to." She really hoped that he would, "Seeing how he's just taking up oxygen that could be inhaled by someone more deserving. Hell I'll hold him down for you."
The other robots that were against Megatron, the Autobots were shocked by her response.
Both sides stared at the human male as he fired his rifle at Skylark. Luckily, Megatrons hand was in the way of the shot but instead he did succeed in pissing him off. "Starscream?! Where are you?!"
"Yes?" he and his brother Thundercracker tranformed back into their robot modes and landed in front of their leader.
"I need you to hold the hostage for me. If you so much as squeak in protect I will slag you as well. Do I make myself clear?" Megatron deposited the human into the red seeker's hand before he charged up his fusion cannon and stalked over to the older man. Just before he could fire Optimus stepped in his way, "I will not let you harm the humans."
"Get out of my way, Prime."
That was when Skylark got up the strength to speak once more, "But I want him to die."
Starscream was surprised by what the teen had said. Most humans weren't so malicious but this one wanted the male to be wiped from the face of existence. "Who is he?" he asked her curiously.
She glanced up at him with a weary expression, "That deranged lunatic that just tried to me? He is none other than my own father."
The red seeker was confused because when he looked between the two of them he could not find a resemblence. "If he is your father, than why is it that he looks nothing like you?"
Skylark could feel her father glaring daggers at her and she turned to stare him in the eyes. "You ungrateful little bitch! I give you a roof over your head and this is how you repay me?" he shouted at her in a drunken slur.
Skylark's expression went livid and she shouted back, "Ungrateful?! Damn right. I'm ungrateful of you, you asshole! I'm ungrateful for every beating you ever gave me because of the fact you didn't have anything else to hit at the time! I'm ungrateful for every bruise on my body that you bestowed onto me. I AM UNGRATEFUL FOR HAVING A PSYCHOTIC LOSER FOR A FATHER!! What I am grateful for is you're about to die! So say your prayers you retarded drunkard!!"
Not many things could impress someone like Starscream but this child's fiery spirit made him smirk. The older male raised his rifle at her again, "Too bad you don't have a prayer, Skylark. Before you die I have one thing to tell you. You're adopted." She tried to duck out of the way but the old man's reflexes were faster and the shot struck home. It clipped her in right half of her rib cage, shattering four ribs and splintering two. "Aaah!" she cried out as she doubled over on her side and blood was seeping out of the wound onto the seekers hand.
When Starscream was intrigued by something he was notorious for holding on to it until he knew everything about it and the human male was getting in the way. "I'd start saying those prayers, human." He aimed his wrist mounted rifle at the man.
Skylark heard the shot and had seen the laser beam hit. It disintegrated the fleshling on contact and right as he went up in flames, she could feel her burdens melt away. "Thank you..." she gasped out weakly before passing out from the pain."
